My 944 S2 just failed its MOT on the rear fog light. After checking all the bulbs it seems that the switch on the dash is not getting any current. I removed the dash panel and compared the two fog light switches: Pin 6 on the front fog light switch has 12v whenever the lights are on, but Pin 6 on the rear switch has no power going to it. That sounds to me like a relay or a fuse gone. However, when I tried to figure this out from my manuals, every wiring diagram I have relates to earlier models. I may be just a bit thick, but I cannot figure out where the rear fog light switch is supposed to be getting its power.

Does anyone has a wiring diagram for a 944 S2?

UPDATE: I figured it out: the MOT tester got it wrong. On the 944 UK models, you need to have the front fog lights on before you can switch on the rears. I thought that they worked independently, but they don't. Pin 6 on the rear fog light switch gets its power from the front fog light switch! Not sure why Porsche did it this way, but it still conformed to UK MOT regs.

On my 87 car I'm sure the front and rear fog lights operate independently.

I constantly have to explain this to my mot tester, this time I even took the handbook along to prove it.

You're quite correct. On a 944 S2 the front fog lights have to come on before the rears will.

It's not that uncommon so I am surprised it baffles MoT testers. My Merc SLK and my VW Golf both work in the same way. Front fog lights must be on before the rears can come on.

Yep happened to me not at MoT but at self professed Porsche specialist, I was not impressed.
