As I need the car for next weekend and I'm away all next week, I'm not pulling the lower seat bolster apart until tools and materials arrive (hopefully today/tomorrow) and I know I can complete the task. However my plan is to pull the seat out, only take off the bolster cover without dismantling the seat down, remove the foam, rebuild it with trunk liner and/or wading and the contact adhesive. Hopefully no foam is required fingers crossed, and all be back together in two shakes of a piggies tail. Wishful thinking??

have you tried these Steve? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RECARO-Seat-B ... 7sDF99P73w he does a couple of different types. There can't be that many Recaro styles?

You might also consider this chap, he did repairs to my S and Martini seats, and I shall be using him for repairs to my Ruby Red sports seats. One advantage, for me, is that although his works are in Evesham, he lives in Gloucester and I can drop stuff off and pick up at his home

Thanks for the hints and tips. Most especially for the tools and materials needed. Had the job done in less than two hours from taking seat out of the car and getting it back in again.

The foam had split open by about 3" at the rear edge of the bolster. Had I not caught it now then it would have continued to split. No photos as my fingers were covered in evostick.

I cut panels of trunk liner to place inside the foam to stop the bolster bar pushing through. From above the bolster I inserted a roll of trunk liner in the gap caused by the split and gives some added cushion from bum on the bar. Then another few panels of trunk liner on the top of the foam.

All done with only removing the bolster cover. Hog rings easily zipped it all back together. It now feels as sturdy as the others and some softness between bum and bar. And all done for less than £30. Happy days
