I purchased some legal pressed aluminium number plates for my 944.

I removed the old ones and noticed that a metal bar is attached to this area and the number plate bolted into this. Is this correct or was it originally attached differently?
I also notice that there seems to be a lot of open air between the front PU apron and the radiator - am I missing something here? Is there supposed to be something filling this area? I could place some fine gauze in here - anyone done similar?

I know - picture needed, but I am at work! Picture to be added when I get home.

The number plate bar is meant to be there. I removed mine and fitted some Wurth plate holders, looks much better!

And yes, there is a big gap between the front PU apron and the radiator on my car too, I assume nothing is meant to be in there :D

Thanks Pilch.

I like the Wurth # plate holder, but as always I am trying to get my car sorted on a budget.
I will remove the number plate bar and stick the aluminium plate onto directly to the PU using the think double sided felt pads that were supplied. Kill two birds with one stone and help to create a lightweight 944
