Picked up the head from the machine shop today. Against my better judgement, went for skim only, which has left a fair amount of corrosion pitting behind in one spot...

I have been assured this won't cause a problem but am now wishing I had followed my gut and had it welded up and then skimmed. Or are they right and I am worrying unnecessarily????

The head is now 23.67mm. Is that ok for standard gasket thickness?

Believe it or not, work still in progress. A combination of work and house refurb put the head pretty much on hold until very recently

Now mid-way through polishing ports which have come up an absolute treat. Also bought a new set of valve guides to be fitted when the corrosion is welded up and the head re-skimmed

Have some time off this week and hoping to get the head off the machine shop....finally

Finally got everything back together after head welded and skimmed, valve guides, oil cooler seals, OPRV seals, head OPRV seals, balance shaft bearing sleeves, front end seals, oil pump drive gear, steering shaft, o/s engine mount, power steering pump seals, oil separator seals and other stuff.

Started it today for the first time in a very long time. Started fairly easily, although a bit tappety at first but quietened down after a few minutes. It was all going well until a strong smell of fuel appeared and had to switch it off sharpish!!

Found the pressurised line has a pin hole just under the top clamp in the o/s wheel arch which is spraying out a fine jet of fuel

Gutted
