 Post subject: S2 Alternator, power steering belts info please

Hi,
would someone please tell me the correct tension on the above belts, or how to get the correct tension ?

A lot will depend on the belts & how new they are. I normally look for somewhere between 1/4"-3/8" play on the longest run under firm finger pressure.
The PAS belt is easy, getting the alternator one right is a fiddle as the loading is higher. Do not overtighten you'll knacker the PAS or alternator bearings.

In the case of the PAS the tensioner will probably snap before the PAS pump dies :lol:.

Hi,
thanks for replies, belts are new so will a 1/4 " deflection suffice ?
