My old 944 lux had sidelight but the new turbo appears to not have them unless I put my main beam on iwould like to get side lights without fitting drls.... How would this be possible

When I leave the indicators on its parking lights work I assume this is the side lights so the bulbs work

Of course it's got sidelights , you need to check why they're not working.

The combination light unit in the turbo's PU bumper contains three bulbs for 1) side light, 2) driving / flashing light and 3) front fog light. Your car has side lights (they may not be functional).

Then you have either a faulty switch or short in the wiring somewhere as the headlamps pop up on the second stage of the rotating switch :(

Thank you ,I'll look into that'
I wonder if it's related to lack of dash lights in that area

Looks like you are going to have a look at the wiring back there... I hope there hasn't been any butchery by a PO.... I hate finding poor wiring work wrapped up in cheap tape..... and don't get me started on the subject of those blue connector crimp blocks!!!

Anyway, sorry to be alarmist, but if there are multiple electrical gremlins then best you set aside a bit of time to investigate. Does anyone know if the rotating light switches simply wear out over time?

Before you rush off changing things, it might be worth verifying that your turbo isn't fitted with infamous 944 "dim-dip" function. That caused the popups to go up when the sidelights were selected. There's a good article on it here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1259
