i have an '87 Lux

each wheel has a cylindical (about 2" long by 1" dia) thing with wires into it sited in the wheelarch with another similar thing either under the rear floor or just inside the engine bay....i assume this is the ABS stuff? (can you tell i've never owned a car this complicated?). The front cylinder things appear to have been disabled. Question, can i just remove all these 4 modules and cut the wiring back as far as i can? (assuming i don't want ABS, of course). Should i be considering doing this?

does anyone know if fitting an S2 front end involves serious/ irreversible cutting on a Lux?

i need to get to the fuel hose that disappears down behind the fuel tank support pan (the hose that comes up to the filter), to replace it....if i remove the strap that appears to hold the support pan on, will this mean that the whole fuel tank is then not supported?

Hi, those cylinders are simply connectors, so you should be able to disconnect them in the engine bay and inboard of the rear wheels. As Waylander says they carry the brake sensor and the ABS wiring (if fitted). If you have ABS, then I would not recommend you start chopping out the wiring! However, as you say they look like they have been disconnected, they are probably only the brake pad wear sensors.

Can you confirm if you have ABS in your car?

As far as the fitting of an S2 front is concerned, another forum member DarrylH did a great set of photos to show us all how he did it. I found the thread, scroll down to the bottom of the page:

http://forums.tipec.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13151&start=870

As you will see, some irreversible cutting is needed to the wings, but that is about all.

Advice for the fuel tank is sound, get as much fuel out as you can before you loosen the strap, as although the tank will not fall out (it has some mounting plates), it is plastic and the weight of the fuel will make it sag....it is then a pain to put the strap back on.. :(

Hope all that helps!

You can get a replica turbo front end. Which requires no cutting off the wings, but don't look quite right, due to the real turbo end having a more curved front end which is evendent I the badge panel and light lids.

I personally did turbo front end conversion. Use a dermial to remove the small area off the wing. Very easy to do. Your want the correct plugs for the lights so u can join the wiring together and Un plug and re plug the lights

thanks very much for that......

i'm not sure how i'd check whether it was supposed to have ABS: it has no pump in o/s wheelarch area, so i assume not?? (but, yes the wiring which was disconnected was wear sensors)

any idea where these replica Turbo front ends can be had?
