Well I picked the car up yesterday and drove it the 230+ miles home and no issues. The garage said that they had inspected the engine and found nothing else wrong, they b'scoped it and pulled the pan as well and gave it a good clean out and nothing untoward was found. Despite the extra hassle for all involved (and expensive) this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise as the engine feels smoother and pulls stronger than ever before, which is nice.

I was impressed at how quickly they got on it and turned it round. They had all the parts in and waiting by the time the car turned up on Tuesday and had it ready and tested by Thursday afternoon.

I am a happy customer again. The garage in question is Unit 11 in Warrington, a fairly small independent Porsche specialist with some very experienced guys. They know their stuff and on this evidence are genuine, hard working and straight down the line. They are busy, was a 2 week backlog before I could get my car in there the first time so plan in advance if you want to book in with them.

Brilliant, to have rectified it with no hassle is a credit to them.

Have always used Unit 11 for both my 968 and 944 Turbo and never had a problem with them, thankfully. As you say Johnny and Danny really know their stuff when it comes to all things Porsche and they are good honest blokes in my opinion. I know there's a lot of people in the club who use them and I've never heard a bad word said about their work before. They sponsor a couple of events for the Cheshire and Staffs and North West regions and have an open night once a year that is very well attended. Hopefully this is just a one off and the way they have handled it just gives me a little extra confidence in what they do.

The 968 was in there recently for belts and a service. Once Johnny took the covers off he found a problem with the tensioner arm and the cover that the dissy cap attaches to. He quickly rang me explained the problems and we decided on the solution. It meant the car was with him another 3 days while the tensioner arm came from Germany but he said I could keep hold of the courtesy car until mine was finished. Sure enough a few days later I got the call that all was done and I stopped off on the way home from work for my car. Johnny told me in detail what had been wrong and had the parts on hand to show me exactly why the work needed to be done. I obviously had to pay for the new parts but they only charged me an hours labour over what I was already expecting for the work it went in for. for me this is just one of several good experiences I've had with Unit 11 over the past 8 years.

I'm glad they sorted your car out quickly and it hasn't tarnished you view of them

Anywhere that is staffed by humans is susceptible to making mistakes, it's how they deal with a mistake that sets apart the good from bad.

It sounds to me like this place is a damned good outfit from this story :D

Excellent resolution, have to say I was mightily surprised they were so decent about your issue. Delighted you are sorted and the garage deserves all the accolades it received :thumbright:
