I think many of us have done exactly this. No doubt like me, you loved the car when you were younger and thought blow it, I'm going to buy one and do it up. Trouble for me was, I did that and then realised I was hopeless. Next port of call was the TIPEC forum and membership. This place is brilliant. The knowledge some of this crowd has is literally unbelievable. I've also managed to find hard to locate parts etc.through this. Over the years of ownership I'm pleased to say I've now tackled some great jobs. Nothing better and more satisfying than doing a tricky job and fixing whatever it was you are working on. Each time I do something I just think I'm making the car better than it was earlier in the day.
Just remember, no question is a daft one we all can learn and some can contribute as well!
Absolutely, when i was in my early teens these were one of the few cars that caught my attention (i was more interested in motorbikes back then). My basic skills with vehicles are not too bad, worked on and built a couple of bikes back in the day, and have just finished modifying and tweaking my daily commuter hack. Its the specific Porsche knowledge i am lacking.
Was originally planning a semi track car, but this particular car is so original and well documented that it seems a same to hack it up, so am thinking to just restore it original. Not saying it wont see a track or too though
