I've just been down to collect my car after much metalwork and found a rather large chunk of electrics not working.
But the odd thing is that they all work with just the ignition on but not when the engine is running.
IIRC the indicators, sunroof, rear hatch and side lights work properly but the mirrors, wipers front and rear, head lights and windows don't.
A bit odd.
They have kept it to sort it out but any ideas? Only thing that springs to mind is the ignition switch but I can't see why as they have barely used that.
Battery was disconnected and it has stood for 8 weeks or so (that's another story).
Bodywork looks great with new sills with the little diamond!
Cheers
David

Ahhh, one of these again :?
Good place to start might be with the ground points, they're usually the main culprit. I had random electrical issues after I had the bulkhead/firewall patched (area was rotten through). Turns out the mechanics cut out the old rot, welded in a new plate, and covered it with rust inhibitor paint, but also painted over the ground point in the firewall, so the grounding was screwed.
Anyway, start with the ground points as they're the easiest, and if still nothing, may be worth tracing the electrical failures to one point using the electrical schematic.
Good luck!

It seems to be the ignition switch. It may be cracked or just full of bodyshop dust.
Currently it is all working fine and the engine ignition always worked.
I shall keep an eye on it but replacing the plastic barrel has been added to my list!
