Ok, so I have finally picked up my Porsche form where it was diagnosed with an internal engine failure. I am holding with high value the comments from everyone on here, many thanks. And thought I'd post a video of the engine running for some more diagnostics or confirmation of the fault. I had no option, but to drive it back from the garage and it still pulls well and has good oil pressure, it feels 100% apart from the noise.

By the way it always try's to stall when it's cold, so that is normal, I think it's the temp sensor, which was on my to do list before this happened.

There's some engine parts in the classifieds on here.

I would get the covers off PDQ. I think that you need to check yourself exactly what has been done re the belts before you run it any more.

Years ago, I had a similar noise with a Toyota. That turned out to be a failed waterpump. It lost very little water and ran OK apart from sounding like a bag of spanners. The garage could have over tensioned the belts and knackered the pump.

I do not have a 944 and am no expert when it comes to engines, but the waterpump would be where I would put my money.

Good Luck.

David
