Hi all, looking for a hand as my mechanical skills are definitely from the take something apart trying not to break it too much and hope it all goes back together again ok with some new stuff chucked at it school

I've located the source of a nasty oil spray / leak to the sump oil level sensor which has caused the right hand ARB bushes to swell and pop the droplinks!!

anybody have tips on removing and refurbing.

The actual sensor part looks a bit pricey, was hoping it was just the gasket (please!!)

In an attempt at the most stupid question of the year  if I remove the housing and sensor to replace the gasket, I take it I need to drain the oil out................

thanks

Brian

Hi.

You won't need to drain the oil out but you will lose some, dish washer blow at the ready

Jack the up so the sender is higher that will keep a lot in there.

The sender is fine if working just get a new gastic, mine was stuck on pretty well and need a few taps after the bolts where out to free it. Iv got a working used sender. Bought a new one when it wasn't needed. You may find you need to clean the surface for a new gastic.

so after a bit of a mess and about 2 and a half litres of oil later, most of it caught in a tub thankfully, the sensor is free

the gasket seemed intact, although was difficult to tell with all the oil pouring out. It looks like its leaking from the central plastic bit, and part of the plastic contact crumbled into bits as I disconnected the connector plug. I suppose its more likely to be the gasket though.

also

the float is crumbling apart, so looks like the sensor is goosed anyway

t3rra, would you sell me your working spare ?

Brian
