Hi, I believe that the rubber-centred plate is no longer available and any replacement that you get now will be a normal spring design. I used a Sachs kit which I bought from Max at Frazerpart, as at the time the price was very competitive. However, these kits are available from quite a few suppliers now, so you can afford to shop around for a good deal. Price depends on the model; base 8V 944, turbo 944 or 16V 944 variants are available. Buying the whole kit is worthwhile rather than just the centre plate. However, these kits do not come with any flywheel fixing bolts, so get a set of those as well. Good luck - a 944 clutch change is quite a task!..I've done two now, one with engine in-situ, one with engine out...guess which was easier :D .

With regard to operation, you wont feel too much difference between the rubber and the spring-centred plates, but a little more smoothness in changes was apparent in the rubber - until it goes hard and breaks up!

Good things to check or do while you are in there...pilot bearing (replace), clutch fork needle-roller bearings (check and replace if necessary), inspect flywheel surface for scoring and get it skimmed if necessary (balanced and lightened if you feel like it too - just not too light!). Check the slave cylinder for wear and leaks. Also replace the rear main seal - but buy a good make replacement!

Good luck..
