I popped into a local exhaust builder with the 944t, and asked about costs etc. They quoted me around £700 for a full system (down pipe back).

I also asked about just dropping the rear silencer & changing the tail pipe for cosmetic / sound purposes. They advised me that you cannot do this due to the pipework been a bit complicated!

Are the talking BS, as I'm sure from the tail pipe to centre box there is nothing too difficult to fab up ??

For you needs I would just cut off down pipe, then De cat and new back box. Only complicated bit is the waste gate pipe just pipe it back in like factory

The top of the pipework is flattened off in a couple of places on the factory system to clear the underside of the car, even with this a Dansk knocked against the rear AR bar over bumps on my car. So it's not a piece of p+ss to knock up a system from scratch right first time.

thanks guys. I thought as much... My std exhaust is fine and has a bit of a roar under boost, but need more noise for my own personal liking....

has anyone ever re-directed the wastegate pipe as a sidey screamer pipe ?

Sounds good.
How did you decide on the size for the oil cooler, that looks quite big compared to the original cooler loop.

Should be a a peace off piss for a exhaust shop. Design and build on the car. Got a 3" all the way from turbo back no issues.

As for a screamer pipe it could get to much to soon. Mine is in after 1st slincer where the cat would be and waste gate is loud anoth to scare people on the street young and old. Iv got a slight bend off waste gate then another connection so if I wanted I could turn this pipe a round in to a screamer and blank the rest, never felt the need

I would say just get 2.5" made from down pipe, or De cat the stock cat/ slincer and have a back box made up with a better fitting tip to valance gap

Yes, on my 924 turbo and it sounded bloody awful. On a 4 cylinder engine it sounds like no exhaust is fitted when on boost. It lasted only a few hours before it was rerouted back into the main exhaust.

There was no maths involved. with the pipe being a slightly bigger diameter than the original once primed the system now holds half a litre more oil
