I managed to get a Burgundy Luggage Cover from the United States and it has arrived with the not so gentle care of US & UK Customs and a few delivery drivers along the way.

The end caps are smashed to pieces and the cover now doesn't have any springs or tension to work :(

Does anyone know how or where to get these fixed and working or has anyone done it themselves? I've looked on Clark Garage and it doesn't seem that simple and as my end plates are smashed I am missing bits I need I think?

I re-tensioned one that I had with a broken end cap - but you need the end caps, as they are what keep tension on the spring.

Basically with one end cap fitted, you need to turn the shaft of the luggage cover until some resistance is felt, and it's enough resistance to pull the cover into the casing, then you need to clip the other end cap in place without letting go of the wound spring/shaft. Snipe nose pliers help here.

The end caps are rivetted on, so easy enough to replace if you can buy them separately?

So I got some new end caps from OPC and had them painted Burgundy then myself and a friend (Cheers William I owe you a pint [;)] ) set about re tensioning the blind before inserting it into the housing and then screwing it onto the back seat.

The job of re tensioning the blind is very straight forward and pop riveting the end caps back on wasn't difficult either. It is a 2 man job to do it properly. The hardest part was the screws to fix to the seat back as Porsche supplied 1" screws which just don't give enough grip so I got some 2" ones from my local hardware store and it fits perfectly.

I just need to give it a wipe over then all will be good [:)]
