Guys,

After nearly eight years of 944 ownership, sadly I have finally given up an unequal struggle and had to sell my car. This will be the first time in nearly 30 years that I have been without a Porsche of some description in the garage....and if I am realistic, this will be my last Porsche.

Unfortunately following injuries sustained in a car crash a few years ago have finally made it impossible to comfortable get in and out of a low slung sports car and drive comfortably. So the car has gone off to it's new owner and it's space in the garage has been filled by a squishy, easy to get into S-type Jaguar!

All i have left is a pile of spares that I have collected over the years for a square dash car, These include a new complete clutch, engine mounts, radiator, alternator....I'll post up the full list inn the for sale section if anyone is interested before I list on EBAY.

Sorry to read that you have had to sell your 944.

Please don't feel that you have to say goodbye, it would be good to see you at events. Just because you have bought a Jag we will still talk to you

thanks Sean...it's worse than one Jag...The S-Type joins my existing XF....just call me Johnny two Jags! I'll still drop in at shows, still love Porsche...just cannot fit in them any more

Yes, that is one choice but having bought a new Jag last year....it is probably a little bit more than I want to spend!

Jon sad that you're having to leave Porsches. Cayennes are getting cheaper, 5-6K now.

You know my feelings Jon, gutted you have left the 44 fold, hope to still catch up at shows and never say never, there is Porsche to suit all needs I would have one of those jeep things too...

Thanks for your kindness guys....I am extremely disapointed to leave the fold but had been struggling for a couple of years.

I cannot tell you how hard it was to see my car driven away by the new owner, but he is a classic enthusiast and she will be in good hands, sharing space in a dehumidified and heated garage with a Datsun 260z and MGBGT.

So it's down to the XF as the everyday driver and the S type 3ltr as the improver.....£850 from fleabay...£1000 on shiney new parts to get it to the mechanical condition I want.....then there's the bodywork ....another Jeffryes moneypit hits the road

You sound almost as bad as me! I literally sold all of my cars off last month and have ended up with a lovely future classic (which may require a little cash spending on it) and a cheap winter smoker.

errm yes,,cheap winter smoker was where I was....but we both know it does not work like that. Last night it was supposed to be change the plugs time; you have to remove the ilet manifold to get to the second bank of the vee on the Jag; so I'd bought six new coil packs to fit whilst I was there plus the relevant gaskets ect.

To cut a long story short, every vacuum hose and breather hose/connector (all preformed and plastic/rubber) had deteriorated and crumbled when touched, plus the coolant top hose connectors had broken off and were held together with glue and Tie straps, oh and the serpentine belt is cracking....add that little lot of additional parts and that's another £300 plus in parts plus vehicle off the road until they arrive! It's a wonder that thebcar was running at all, let alone as well as it was.

Indeed, welcome to it!

If I am honest, even my E36 for less than a bag of sand is having issues. It requires a new thermostat, the rear shelf refixing (it was not put back in properly from when the car was resprayed (the rear screen was removed) along with the central locking fixing (at the moment it does not work. Oh and it required tracking today (as a result of all of the suspension work everything was miles out).

My Mondeo V6 was the same with the plugs (3.0) and whilst I didn't remove it on the 2.5 I would do in the future (too many skinned knuckles and IMO too great a chance of destroying the HT leads.

A good shout on the plugs and coilpacks. As I am sure you know I would only ever fit genuine/OE coilpacks to a Ford V6. I had no end of issues with Intermotor and other pattern coilpacks on the car.

Anyway, I best stop now. This is a Porker forum after all!
