Greetings and salutations :)

My name is Scott, I was pointed in this general direction by none other than Jim Hearnden on the Pistonheads Porsche forum.

Im 26 years old, currently own a BMW 730iSE and a TVR Tasmin 280iFHC racecar which Im rebuilding, but Ive got the itch to change my main car for something a little more.....capable

There are a couple of potential replacements, but the 2 that are really tempting me at the moment are

BMW 328is Coupe - E36

Or

Porsche 944 N/A

Ofcourse it all depends on what kind of budget I can stretch to when the time is right, but Im hoping I can find a good, clean 944 for around £2.5k when the time comes....maybe a little more if this year goes well :D

Anyway, I shall be asking for experiences and information during my stay in hope that I can learn enough to make my possible venture, as enjoyable as possible :)

Welcome to the forum.

Lots of 944's to choose from in your budget, happy hunting when the time comes.

I've owned a couple of Beamers in my time, you'll have a lot more fun in a '44.

Ive been a BMW fan for years and wasnt dissapointed when I bought my first...as big as it is, its a bloody riot!

As Ive grown older, Ive began to appreciate things I wouldnt have normally looked at...one of which has been Porsches!

I would love a 964 or a 993 but my ultimate would be a 911 Carrera RS 2.7 :D

Ive had a few BM's such as a 325i - but a Porsche is just more of a hoot !!

To be fair, within that sort of budget my choices of fun, relatively quick cars are seriously limited, but I was on a run out with a chap who had a 944 Turbo and I was impressed....not a bad sound either for a 4 pot

A 944 is a really great all rounder, handles well, loads of torque

If you want to go out in mine & see how a really good one goes drop me a pm. Got to go to Crossgates next Sunday afternoon!
Though you wouldn't get mine for 2.5K or even 3 if it were for sale. The best ones cost a bit more than that! 944's much under rated in my humble opinion. (Not selling mine for all the tea in China :) )

Ahhhh it would be next sunday wouldnt it lol :(

Im at Harewood Hillclimb that day with the camera, trying to catch the action and support a friend who is looking to take his class this season

I would be quite interested trying one on for size though as Im not sure if I'll fit yet hahaha

I'll definitely take JJ up on the offer at some point, I need to get up close and personal with a 44 now Ive lost a lot of weight and gained experience

I will be trying to catch some good shots of Chris Price at Harewood...well, if his Sierra XR4X4 is back in time, but other than that, I go to snap as much of the action as I can!

Its not an official raceday, its the practice day which in many ways is better for me as the action is constant with no real breaks between class runoffs etc

Time spent behind the lens is positive time :)

If you're going up, give me a shout and I'll come say hello during break...alternatively you would probably spot me a mile away lol

Cars into the bodyshop for the new front end Moday after. Maybe a couple of weeks. Should be better weather by then. I hope! Have fun at Harewood. Used to love practice days. & they used to be free as well :)

Bit of a trade secret that one lol

It would be nice to put a Porsche in my passenger portfolio..been out in lot of cars, but not managed a Porsche yet!

Been out in a Ferrari 355, Lamborghini Gallardo, lots of TVR's & done 150mph in a Bentley just so I could go for a number 2 at the services after a nights camping...but never experienced a Porsche, ANY Porsche :D

I think the fastest thing Ive driven was a 4litre TVR Chimaera...that was fun :D

Ahh would that be the one with the Lynx lightweight convertible body? Red one?

If so, that thing is absolutely wonderfull and sounds better than the majority of machinery blasting up through the hills
