Hi all, i am Adam 5 weeks ago i stretched my self and bought my dream car. It has 90 km on the clock and has been garaged for 15 yrs (according to the previous owner). Looking forward to learning heaps more about the car and maintaining it. Things iv already fixed are: Fixed rear boot hatch button to open Flushed cooling system (cheers Jim for the manual link on how to do) Unblocked sunroof drains Things i need to do 1) Fix left sunroof guided, the sunroof can be pushed up so that it pops off the guide? 2) Fix the cruise control, just doesn't seem to do anything. 3) The a front brake seems to grab funny reversing down hill on a angle, not sure if that's just the ABS working? 4) The standard alarm doesn't work when you open a door or bonnet, it only works when the car is opened with out the key and a radio button is pushed. It sounds pretty funny as it runs through the original speakers. 5) Wheel aliment 6) The carpet molding that goes around the rear boot release hatch button is missing. 7) Interior light only works when is manually pushed on not when door is opened. Oh i am from Australia too, don't know anyone else with a 944 or who is into them so i thought id join your club to learn about how to look after and fix them. Just had the car towed to a garage today ![]() anyways see yas ![]() Adam |

Welcome tothe forum Mine was near enough to stationary for 15 years before I got hold of it. Watch out for more problems as daily use becomes an issue. Admittedly, mines been better the more its seen the road. |

7) Interior light only works when is manually pushed on not when door is opened. mine does that... but only the cabin light, the boot light does come on when you open the door. |

Hi Adam Welcome to the forum, we have a few on here from down under who pop in from time to time. I have just had an email from a lady in OZ who is trying to trace previous owners because the key had a TIPEC key ring attached. |

Hi & Welcome ![]() Yup lack of use kills cars, after 15 years it will definitely need a front end rebuild, including PAS & Alternator belts & a water pump. I suspect all the seals will need doing as well. Syphon out as much brake & clutch fluid from their respective reservoirs as possible, then refill & bleed through with fresh. Also replace the PAS fluid. I suspect the callipers may have gone sticky so remove pads & check all 4 pistons per callipers move properly. Replace coolant, oil & gearbox oils & air & oil filters. replace the tyres as unless the car has been kept out of the sun they'll have UV damage. |

Thanks for the comments, just looked up the price of a water pump ![]() Oh one question i have that i rang the previous owner about is, the temp gauge seems to fluctuate a fair bit, it will start to rise towards 3/4 hot and then it will lower again, is this normal? The old owner said it is normal as its just the thermo fan kicking in. Adam ![]() |

The temp will rise to close to three quarters before the fan kicks in. It should be pretty static when your moving at speed & have airflow through the rad'. Water pumps arn't cheap but once you've done it thats it for a few years. Cheaper than warping your head etc. Preventative maintenance will save you ££££'s in the long run. People pop on here fairly regularly after the cam belts/water pump has failed. Very rarely do they come back as they usually can't afford the repair bill & have to scrap the car. |
