Hello all!!

Firsty, I must say that I'm very impressed with the forum and TIPEC so far....keep up the good work!! It's been a great resource whilst I've been looking for a 924/944 recently.

Anyway, I'm pleased to say that I laid down a deposit on an '87 944S this afternoon and will be completing payment and picking it up next Monday all things being well. I sold a Vauxhall VX220 back in January, which I used quite a bit on track, and am hoping to put the 944 to similar use after a bit of spannering has been done!! Despite a high mileage, the car is in very good condition inside and out, drives very nicely / smoothly and appears to be mechanically sound from what 2 friends and myself could ascertain as amateur mechanics :D

Certainly looking forward to getting involved with the forum and TIPEC in general, as it's my first Porsche :hello1: I've used various VX and Audi forums in the past and found them to be both friendly and useful.

First decision...Koni, Bilstein, Spax or Gaz for the suspension rebuild?!

Cheers, Pete

Hi Pete

Welcome to the forum and Porsche ownership, you will find the '44 well balanced and a lot of fun for the money.

Any questions you have please fire away and I am sure someone will have the answers.

The suspension question can be a thorny one. Everyone has a favourite.

KWV3 seems to be the best all round option, great on track but still a soft comfortable ride around town (by some sort of black magic, presumably!) but the GAZ option is popular among dedicated track boys.

I have adjustable Konis, which I find to be really good considering they were factory fitted twenty-one years ago!

Thanks for the welcome notes chaps.

The 944 suspension question is indeed a tricky one to answer, as I've been discovering ha! I think I'll need to replace some bushes along the way, so have to decide between OEM and Poly too. Will do some more research and get something ordered in the near future :)

Sure you know already but do check/replace the cam belt & cam sprockets/chains/tentioners before you give it any beans. Failure to do so could scrap your new car very quickly. Not normally a problem with a well looked after enthusiasts car. All the best :D

welcome to the forum from another 944S owner, what colour is it and where abouts in the country are you ? they reckon the easiest way to stiffen the body roll is to fit either M030 or 968 CS ARBs

It's black with black Cup 1 wheels, very nice indeed :)

Am I right in thinking the 'S' only has a front ARB but you can retro-fit a rear ARB? Where's the best place to get upgraded ARBs?

As it happens, I've already posted in the '924 944 968' section about this!!

Sadly, I've had to pull out of the sale of the 944S for a number of reasons. Therefore, my search continues and I look forward to getting properly involved with the forum in the near future!! :)
