Hi all,

I have been a long time fan of Porsche cars.

My love affair started back in the very late 80's - early 90s.

At the time, I worked for my uncle who was a big Porsche fan and he used to let me drive his car for work - trusting soul (in fact, he has continuously owned a Porsche or two for the last 25 odd years - he currently has a Panamera and Cayenne Turbo with a 911 Turbo S on order for July !).

At the time, he used to have a 928 S4. The 928 was a nice car but never did anything for me. The car was due a service at one point and he had arranged for Charles Ivey (then a main dealer) to pick up the car, service it and bring it back - as usual. That particular time, he had to go away for the evening so basically told me to hand the car over to Charles Ivey, take the loan car home and bring it back the next door. Well Charles Ivey dropped off a 6 month old 964 C2 Cab. I took it home that night, the very, very, very long way round, and I was hooked !!!

I decided there and then that I absolutely must have a 911. My brain worked over time for the next 3 months trying to work out how I could generate enough money to buy one. As you would expect, there were no fast cash solutions and I resigned myself to not getting one but vowed that I must own one before I died :crybaby: !

A few years later, I actually bought a 924 which I kept for about 6 years - but still no 911.

Fast forward 15 odd years and about 3 years ago I got to the point where I could justify a 911 so started looking. Unfortunately, and stupidly in hindsight, I got side tracked onto an M3 Cab and didn't buy one :banghead: . The M3 lasted a year at which point I bought a BMW 530D.

Well, here we are in 2010 and I have decided that sod everything, a 911 has to be mine. So, I am on the verge of buying my first 911 (after a false start a few weeks ago with a seller that let me down). I hope to have one on my drive very, very soon.

I am very keen to participate in the TIPEC community. In the past I owned a Focus RS and really enjoyed the club meets and events and hope that with Porsche, I can continue this. I hope to meet many of you at the TIPEC show in Gaydon.

So, in summary, a very big hello to everyone on here and I hope thhis is teh start of a long term relationship with Porsches and the community :occasion5:

Welcome to the forum and hopefully TIPEC. Great intro and what were you thinking..M3 not 911.

Clearly that phase has passed and we look forward to seeing you in the 911 very soon

Welcome to the forum, don't forget to show us some pictures when you buy the car you have been yearning for all these years.

Quite a few of the gang have been down the M3 route first.

Hi and welcome.

I'd like to say post some pics before anyone else asks, but alas...........too late.

Where abouts are you? Pop along to your local TIPEC meet - you will be made to feel most welcome, wherever that may be.

Enjoy the ride.

Hi and welcome. What model have you decided to get, your dream 964 or a different model from the 911 range?

Enjoy living the dream

Andy

Good question.

I did consider an SC or a 964 but then felt that although it felt great all those years ago, time has marched on and I will feel like taking a step backwards given cars I have owned in recent years.

I then thought, ah 993 - last of the air cooled, legend, great residuals so went on a hunt for a C2S or C4S. Saw a few but after driving them, although enjoyable and involving, just didn't do it for me. I realised I wanted one of Porsche's more modern supercars so will hopefully source myself a 996 Turbo :D

Not jealous at all  I would do the same though 996 turbo is a great value everyday supercar.

Enjoy and we always want pics of a turbo Porsche :bounce:

Andy
