Lo all, where to start. I'm a mature chap ( 44 is old isnt it ? ) and far from a boy racer but I always find I need a hobby every few years or so and guess what I feel the need to try a Porsche ! . Quality is more of an attraction than anything , i just cant stand cars that fall aprt after 80,000 miles , ford vauxhall, renault you name it :) . I got in to Volvos for that very reason but I just got bored with them period , not difficult i know :P

After my insurance company told me it would only add 50 quid a year to my insurance to have a 3.2 Porsche I thought it would be rude not too now wouldnt it !

I have been seriousy scouring learning re prices/problems etc and am totally ready to buy and have a Porsche specialist up the road from me who has a good reputation and seems a genuinely nice bloke so all boads well.

I am however torn , badly torn and I know it's down to opinion but I would really appreciate the opinions of folk here. A Boxster 3.2 S seems a lot of car for the money too me at 8,500 for a decent one post credit crunch. However they arent exactly rare round these parts and I really fancy a 944 Turbo S/SE. I feel the 944 Turbo S/SE is more of an interest and rarity but is it as nice to drive/use as a Boxster. On the other hand Im sure there is a reason so many folk round here have Boxsters they are probably damn good cars.

I also would like to go to meet ups etc and meet some hopefully 'normal' sociable Porsche folk but turning up in ' another' Boxster would hardly be a talking point / ice breaker would it , or maybe I could make one that bit special ?

Anyway I hope my post makes sense and is at least tuppence interesting aND doesnt offend any Boxster fans ( I may be one soon !) .

Cheers

Mas

hello and welcome, 944 turbo is also a lot of car for the money, by now a lot have been modified, so maybe headgasket issues, pop along to your local regional meet and glean as much info from the folks there and i'm sure you will be able to blag a ride in a turbo, good luck in your search

Hi and welcome. Get along to a local meet to clarify to yourself where your personal choice lies..........

........Then buy a 944 turbo SE  No corporate front end styling, rarity value assured, well looked after ones are just as reliable and they're very practical. Be pleasantly surprised with the insurance quotation to if you go classic insurance route

Seriously go to a meet, take a few drives and then you'll be in a better position to decide what you want. Nice position to have the choice my friend :D

Andy
