Hi folks, just signed up and on the look out for a 944 that I could use daily. Hoping for something 2-3k though. I have a e46 bmw 320d sport touring just now that I'm hoping to get just over £3k for to free up some cash. Any advice about which 944 I should be looking at with that tight budget? Great forum by the way - hopefully it will come in handy! Many thanks Paul |

I bought one for £2k and less than a year later i'm in it for nearly £5k. You don't get a daily driver at that price unless you're very lucky, you get a work in progress that will take some getting sorted. The most important thing is make sure that the cambelt has been done recently and that the clutch isn't about to go. Both are bank balance draining repairs. |

Agree Totally with previous post, you may get a cheap one but cheap to run THEY AINT After just selling my 3rd & last 944 (yesterday) I can speak from 12 years of 944 experience (Loved every mile of it mind ![]() 1st one in Sept 2004 a 2.7 944 as a starter, cost £3000 (a bargain from a fellow Tipec member). Cam Belt and rollers as mentioned above are a must have otherwise EXPENSIVE motor rebuild. I did sell that one for £3600 after 9 Months, but had spent about £1000 in that time. I could go on about experiences & COST for the other 10+ years ... suffice is to say as a Daily driver you must be prepared to keep the maintenance up to scratch otherwise it will bite you back££££ Dont let this put you off getting one but buying the best you can afford works out cheaper in the long run. Thanks for the advice guys. I'll consider it carefully. I'd hoped the less appreciated models would still be cheap but as you say they will need work. |

A wise man said to me that 944s are 6-10k cars. Whether you buy one for 2k or 6k, you'll spend that amount to get it right. |
