New introduction.... Just purchased my first 944 a couple of weeks ago, 2.7 lux auto which is a bit of an unusual beast I've been told. Started off with cam belt, water pump, balance belts etc etc as the history is a bit inconclusive as to when they were last done. Very nice mechanically and externally, with a passable interior. May change from the once whitish grey velour to leather seats and a new carpet once I've got over the pocket pain from the belts. Nice to see so many people on here to share experiences, good and bad!

Welcome!

Yes, the 2.7 engine was a rare beast and coupled with an auto box, it would have been quite a rare car.
The belts are a requirement that must be done - you did the right thing to get them changed. Better the devil you know and all that. A snapped belt would render the car a write off no doubt.

Interiors can be found on this very forum - what colour is the exterior of your car? My favourite interior is the burgundy leather, but then I am Hugh Heffner!

Get some pictures of your car up and I am sure we can help you out!

Good luck!

Not sure what the proper Porsche description is, I would call it extremely practical white grey velour type, with light grey/ cream? carpets to match. All in ok cons, but I like these things better than ok. Seen the leather type upholstery kits in the US which look tidy, I don't know if any ones given them a go? Wondering if it might have an effect on the value if I deviate from the standard?

Hi and welcome - interior looks like what they called 'linen' - carpets etc. Velour seats to match...

Cheers Dave. That's what I thought. The carpets are a bit grimy, but I've had them cleaned professionally, and they are better, but still got patches of dark and some yellow bleaching. The seats have also been deep cleaned and also improved, but would love to get them perfect. Any ideas please??

Hello and welcome to the forum

If you want to keep it original and the vinyl part of the seat is ok, then you can still get the material from www.werk924.com
Although they are not cheap. Seats do come up on ebay every now and then you get some good ones.

you could change all seats and door cards to another colour, or maybe just the seats if you go to black.

Different seats won't make a huge difference to the value. If you want to change , go for it

Cheers Jason. I will keep a look out. See a company who do a vinyl leather like kit in the states called only 944.com They look tidy, do you know if anyone's taken the plunge?

Looks almost identical to mine. I have the same spec except mine is manual. I wasn't too keen on the interior colour but I must say it has grown on me in my time of ownership.
