Hi all,

I purchased a 996 C4 convertible late last year ( and before you ask, yes, insanity does run in the family - as you'll see from the list of my other cars !!). I decided that it's impossible for a petrol head to go through life without having a 911 and the 996 was the only model within budget. I did spend some time researching the well known "issues" and then looked for a low(ish) mileage car with a full Porsche specialist service history. I found one which also had the plus of a big file of receipts etc, which gave me added confidence that she had been cherished and properly looked after. I bought from a small specialist dealer in used Porsches and the car came complete with a new Mot, recent service and a two year warranty (demonstrating that the dealer at least had some confidence in the car). So now its a case of looking after her properly, enjoying the driving experience and keeping fingers crossed (but not at the same time !!). Its all been with the hard top on so far but I can't wait for the better weather so I can have the hood down. The only minor issues I've had so far is some creaking noises from somewhere in the dashboard/ front console area and some rather fuzzy radio reception at times - anyone else experienced these and know of cures?

I recently joined TIPEC and it seems like a great club and this forum is really helpful. I'm based just outside Whitby, so quite a way from the nearest regional meeting venue, and I'm wondering whether there are any other members in this part of North Yorkshire?

Brian

Hi Brian

Welcome and hope you have your lid down now. Have also had a few radio reception issues and have not really found the cause or remedy so would be interested to hear what you find out. Did mention it at a recent regional meeting and was told I should be listening too and enjoying the exhaust noise and not the b****y radio
Did have a annoying squeak and it was a couple of the securing screws missing on the plastic cover over the battery etc right under the windscreen in the frunk.

Good luck and don't forget to post some pictures
