After years of Ford RS ownership I`ve finally seen the light and today sold my 79`RS2000 to fund my first Porsche.

Will be looking for a 964 (Carrera 2) about 1990.

What should I keep an eye out for ? Bodywork, leaks, clutch ?? etc

I`ve shortlisted my cars down to 2 which I`ll be viewing this weekend.

I went on a Porsche trackday at Croft last thursday which was excellent and got to drive an SC, Carrera 4 (?) and couple of boxsters which was an excellent day.

Looking foreward to getting on this forum a bit

Hello Tony,

Welcome to the Forum.
I'll beat Gordon to it and ask where are you based?

good luck in your search, pistonheads usually has a good selection of 964s, buy on condition and history not on spec

Its a slippery slope... you thought RS love was addictive ;)

Good luck, hope you have many happy miles in the new girl, and you have gone air cooled :D

Hi & Welcome

It'd be worth ringing 911 & Porsche World & getting there back issue with the buyers guide on the 964.

Thanks for the welcome guys :D

RS love is addictive - I still have a 74` Mexico

BUT I`m looking for a driveable classic with a bit of get up and go.

The one I want seems to have been very well looked after and maintained with a recent engine rebuild and a few goodies thrown in too.

Should I be looking any where in particular regarding corrosion ? One I looked at at a dealer had water in the spare wheel well :( Not good.

Am from Halifax West Yorks btw.

Correct, my mother was quite shocked as she had bought the album for my Brother as a Xmas pressie, he was about 12 at the time

Thanks Siggy, so far no car. No1. choice sold, No2. choice too expensive and far too track orientated.

The hunt goes on- Nice 964, approx 1990, rebuild, well maintained, good history
