Just dropped in to say Hi and that this looks like an OK forum to me...

I'm a 924 owner having picked up a mintish '82 Lux with 72k on the clock which had been sitting in an old lady's garage for over 10 years. After much cleaning and scrubbing and general rodding of the fuel system the car now runs like it should and is a pleasure to both own and drive.



Anyway - despite this I'm left wanting more than the 24 can offer and have got my eye on a 944 S2 Cab as a bit of a project for the summer ...

Don't get me wrong, the '24 is a real beauty, for a 32 year old car it is in remarkable condition - arguably better than I deserve!

It's been a bit of a learning curve too - trying diagnose a particularly mischievous misfire helped me to learn all about rust, crap and baffling foam in the fuel tank, how to find and change a high pressure fuel pump, how to clean mechanical injectors, how to disassemble and reassemble the fuel distributor and just about every other component in the system, where the smallest fuel filters in the world were buried in the distributor head and just how little crud it takes to block them - remember the misfire?? Oh, and of course the loose spark-plug that the @sshole mechanic at the PO's local chop-shop left after its last service (you know - the one in the cylinder behind the front suspension housing that makes it tricky to get a plug spanner on it...)

I got it running well, or so I thought until I took it down to the guys at JMG where Jamie did his stuff and made it better again ... But despite this it still leaves me expecting more, but there's not very much that can be teased out of it without throwing hundreds of quid at it. The lure of a 3 litre big banger is stronger than I think I can resist and I haven't got the means (yet) for a 968, so an S2 it will have to be. Jon (JMG Jon) has been a massive help with telling me what to look for - especially as I'm on the tightest of budgets..

Anyway - if it's ok with you guys I'll be hanging around - especially as there's not been one mention of how much better my life would be if I 'subscribed' ...

JMG tweeted an advert for the 997 the other day, and sums me up. Once bitten by the bug it only going to go one way. I started with a 924, then 944, then 928 and now a 911 Turbo. I'm sure you'll enjoy the 924, but ultimately you'll enjoy whatever you get next even more.
