Hi all, Richard from Shrewsbury here.

I've just joined up and am currently on the hunt for a well maintained 944 S2 or Turbo.

I'm a huge car nut and I currently own a mk2 Golf GTI 8v as my daily, a s1 106 Rallye for fun and hill climbs (next year will be my first go at proper competitive Motorsport!) and a mk1 Eunos track car which I'm currently breaking to make way for the Porsche.

I've looked at a couple of cars so far and there's at least one potential, but the holy grail for me would be to find one that has been owned and maintained by some one as fastidious as me but these seem to be thin on the ground! I've done my homework though so I'm prepared to get my hands dirty...

Cheers all

Hello and welcome, pop over to see us at The Bulls Head at Shenstone on the 2nd Monday of the month, we're a friendly bunch and maybe we can answer your 944 questions, good luck in your search in the meantime

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'd be keen to pop along to some of the meet and Shenstone isn't too far away for me; I pop over that way quite often to Curborough :)

I should be viewing a turbo this weekend that is well known to the club so I'll let you know how I get on...

Rich

Well I'm pleased to say that earlier this week I left a deposit on a lovely 1986 Turbo which is reasonably well known on here. It's been owned by enthusiasts for a good while so is in good shape and most importantly, is rust free.

As ever with these cars there are a few jobs to do for it to be perfect (to me), so it should be a nice project :)

I should be collecting it over the next couple of weeks!
Richard

Blimey that was quick, well done, hopefully see you and the turbo at The Bulls Head as you've no excuse now

Yes I'd not bargained on finding one this soon, but there were just too many positives with the most recent car viewed and it just seemed right! I may as well spill the beans that it's Hairyarse's old car that I'm buying as unfortunately the (very recent) new owner's circumstances have changed. However he's had the belts and tensions done and also fitted four new boots, which were positives to an already good car.

All being well I'm picking it up next Saturday and if anyone is at Autosport on Sunday I'll be displaying it in the Pistonheads Sunday Service area. I was due to take my Rallye but journey wise it makes sense for me to take the Turbo :) edit: I've looked again at the details for this and the SS area is effectively an indoor private car park so won't be on display...

I'm not sure I'll make the Jan meet, but I'll be sure to come along soon!
