Hi, I'm a new member based in the West Midlands (just south of Solihull) - got my TIPEC registration pack this morning !
Don't know why I've not got round to joining previously - I've had my Porsche for 6 years now.
Better late than never !

Its a 996 C2 40th Anniversary model with nearly 60,000 miles on the clock.
More than half the milage has been done by me as I've been so happy with the car it was a daily driver for the first 4 of the 6 yrs !

Originally I had BMW M3 s (E36s) for quite a few years - but always had a hankering for a 911.
Being made redundandant & having my last M3 deteriorate to almost zero value due to what turned out to be well known engine problems persuaded me it was time too change (abusing my redundancy money !).
I'd heard so much about the reputation for "interesting" on the limit car behaviour of 911, I decided I needed something with PSM as a safety net & it obviously had to be at least as fast as the M3s.
Turbos were out of the question because of what I thought would be high running costs & 4wd in a sports car was not for me - so a 996 C2 with PSM was the search target.
After driving a few & not being impressed with the condition or the driving behaviour, I came across the 40th Anniversary model. The engine, transmission & suspension upgrades & the condition of the car was so good I had to have it :)
I've been enjoying it ever since !

The only mods it has so far is a 997 gear shift to reduce the gear lever movement - a big improvement.

It's been incredibly reliable, with the only failures being an alternator, brake light switch & aircon radiators (!!). It's never let me down (touch wood).

I'll hopefully see some of you at TIPEC events.

Best wishes,

Hi, thanks for the welcome.
I should have included photos with the intro - everyone always wants to see what you've got

Wheels aren't looking quite as nice nowadays - I'm soon to get them refurbished, but haven't decided what finish yet. They were a highly polished almost clear finish originally, but had had already been reprayed "standard silver" by the time I bought the car as the original Porsche finish couldn't be reproduced after they deteriorated.
