I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but I expect I'll be posting a fair bit over the next couple of months as I hit problems with the new project so I best introduce myself properly.

I'm in sunny Lee on Solent so I hope to meet some of the local members at some point.

Matey

Matey hi welcome to the forum - plenty of very knowledgeable people here who are very willing to offer advice on any problems your car may have.
Not sure why Lee-on-Solent should be blessed with sunshine but bring it along with you to your local regional meeting.

Well maybe it's not so sunny today but we do have a bit of a micro climate here!

My car has been here before (as reg G2 DSC or earlier as Jet 24) although I've no idea how long ago or if the owner posted on the forums at all, I found some old club paperwork in with the history, any idea how old is this?

Image

It's been in the Southampton area since 2001, the previous owner had the car from 2002 until February this year although it's been off the road for the last 3 years.

Hello Matey, not far from you in Emsworth, we will find out the details on that paperwork, and arrange a get together soon, PM me a phone number or email address.

Cheers Steve

Thanks guys.

It's an awesome colour like having 2 different cars depending on cloud or sun.

There's a pic on the 924,944,968 thread, that's all for now I need a good valet and wheels sorted before any detail pics come along.

PM sent Steve I'm hoping to have this one on the road for May if not I'll come along to the Angel in the "van".

Matey

Hello and welcome. Nice looking 944. You also drive another 944 for a daily drive? Ok on fuel and reliable?

Hi Phil,

stupidly practical and reliable for everyday use.

Spend some money at the start and they reward you, full front end service, plugs, leads, dizzy and rotor, new dme pop the old working one in the glove box as a spare and I also carry a spare flywheel sensor.

It's a rat and not pampered, seats don't match gets washed twice a year, 30mpg drops down to not much mpg giving it some beans on the back roads. It's let me down once in 4 years with the dizzy cap arking out, £200 a year on the MOT.

I'm having a hard time at the moment trying to decide what to do, sell it and get a cheap car to run around in or keep it and mot and do the belts again this year as they'll be due. I've grown attached to it which is fatal it would need a lot of £'s to make a good car of it but I'm not sure how much more neglect it can take.

Don't be scared of them, they're made by a performance car manufacturer, that doesn't mean fragile and unreliable it means you get incredible build quality.

Matey

Hi & welcome

You'll miss it if you get rid of it, keep it & do it up. I loan (against a deposit) the cambelt tools if you need them.

The early one isn't anything to be proud of, I have to park behind a skip and crawl out over the skip to avoid the shame of being seen in the car

I'll miss the driving position and nimbleness of the early car, I've not driven the S2 much but it feels very different more of a GT car than go-cart.

Sorry Jim forgot to say thanks for the offer of the tools, I have them already, they're a bit of an ouch £'s at the start but more than pay for themselves after a couple of uses.
