Hi all,

I have an early 944 Lux in almost Guards Red (bit more polishing).

As she will be 30 years old this year I am concentrating on getting all those little jobs done ready for a lot more miles this year.

Not many early cars in this area only a black 944 turbo that I see on a regular basis and a red 928 which is just parked up (real shame).

Cheers, Jeff

Hello and Welcome,
What a great car these 944 are and as an owner (Also) of the fastest colour I can recommend Meguiars Ultimate Compound to get that Guards Red looking its beautiful self.
Wish you many miles of happy motoring Jeff.
Cheers Clive
ps Photos are appreciated - perhaps in the 944 Post your pride & joy here (with loads to look at) :-

Hi,

Being a complete novice when it comes to polishing and waxing etc.
Do I just need to use the Meguiars or do I need something else as well ?

Will get some pics posted.

As I am from sunny Somerset, hopefully should get some nice weather to do some more pictures.

Cheers, Jeff

Managed to find a couple of reasonable pictures - posted on the pride & joy thread.

Would be interesting to see if there are any other '82 cars about.

Nice Photos.
Regarding "Detailing" Thats a topic on its own, best look on Meguiars web site and perhaps a search on Car Detailing :) To give it the full monty you need LOADS of TIME eg Washing (Soaking, Washing, rinsing, drying!). Ultimate compound, clay bar, + 3 step Paint cleaner, paint Polish & then waxing. although they now have more modern applications which cut down on products needed.
I used to spend more hours cleaning than driving  my previous 944 (S2 Cab) but now just enjoy the driving & it gets cleaned if it gets too mucky!

The Meguiars range will give you a very good finish. The NXT range is very easy to use.

It might be worth a look in the detailing section, most topics have been covered.

Hi Sean,

After looking at the Meguiars site I noticed they do a "restoration kit" which seems to have most things.

That appears to be good enough to get it from Guards Pink   to Guards Red.

Then I can just drive it with the occasional wash 'n' polish. 8) 8)
