Hi, welcome to the forum.

I'm in a similar situation with my newly acquired 944. I've found that if you complete a V888 form, have a "legitimate interest" and send a £5 cheque, the DVLA can give you the details of the previous owners. I've yet to give it a go, but surely worth a punt?

It's also worth trying to get in contact with the last owner on the V5 to see if they have any more info.

Good luck,

Andy

i've contacted previous owners using details which were on previous service receipts etc. and also previous garages which have done work on the car whose details are shown on the service stamps/any paperwork etc., sometimes they have kept copies of receipts and have sent them on, which helps build the picture.

with the V5 and the reg no. you can get the car's recent MOT history from the dvla website online. that gives the name of the garage which did the MOT. so that is an option to contact them too although how much that might tell you i don't know. one thing it does show up are any advisories so that gives you an idea of some of the glaring items which might need attention or investigation.

I tried to trace a couple of missing invoices for my old 944S, book was stamped with garage name, dates etc, when I approached one of the very well known specialist independants he wanted £75 per hour to search through his invoices to find my info as he told me thats what he would earn through servicing, I decided that they weren't that important after all
