Thanks for the welcome!

Paul, I was supposed to be heading to the 'Ring this weekend but had to bail out at the last minute :( . But I'm planning to go again at the end of August. Anyone here going or thinking of going?

NXI - indeed, I do remember!

I still have extra wrap... may do the helmet, but then I'd have to do the cage! :?

Gary - only an hour?

She's been fettled by Manthey to MR-specification, aka GT3MR.

Most parts of her have been upgraded in some way including the engine (exhaust, cats, induction, remap), suspension, drivetrain, brakes, cooling, aero package, safety bits, etc. An itemised list with a few pics is here: http://www.911uk.com/garage.php?mode=vi ... cle&CID=31

The upshot is that she's a bit quicker than normal, more powerful and lighter and with significantly higher limits than standard whilst remaining perfectly road usable. Work was done by either Manthey in Germany or their agent here in the UK (JZM) over the past couple of years.

I'm impressed. Showing my ignorance big time. I'd never heard of manthey before !

I'm guessing Manthey is in a similar vein to RUF ?

Read all about them (translated from the German via Google, so somewhat hard going!)

Nice looking Car

The matt black wrap is very interesting. Did Manthey put that on for you ? Do they do many colours, whats the cost and is it easy to remove afterwards ?

Changing the colour of cars without respraying sounds great if practical

Ruf is an official car manufacturer where factory Ruf cars have their own VIN numbers. ie, the car is officially not a Porsche, but a Ruf.

Manthey are probably the foremost Porsche tuner. They were the technical R&D partner for Porsche in developing the 997RSR, and they run the Porsche factory Supercup team (Team UPS). They've won the 'Ring 24hrs for the past 2 years running, and their modified 997 Cup car last year is the basis for the new Porsche Cup S race car released this year. There was an article on Manthey in EVO magazine a few months ago (cover story was the new R35 GTR).

I had the wrap done by Raccoon down in Edenbridge, Kent. Raccoon do all the Gumball cars, Foxton Minis, and thousands of other commercial wraps every year including work for various manufacturers at car shows etc. They can do any design/imagery you want, in any colour, in any number of finishes with various kinds of wrap, all depending on the purpose of use. The film I used is graded for 3 years and seems quite easy to remove because the adhesive is very low tack and easily peels as required.

I am normally there (last 3 years anyway) on the last weekend August/First weekend September as part of our annual holiday so could be an option.

Having said that, our house is on the market at the moment so that may scupper holiday plans or make any plans pretty much last minute.

Fingers crossed.
