Pleased to have found a site were I think I share some common interest. Just been reading through a few posts and its clear there are a lot of passionate Porsche owners out there..... I am a from Guisborough up in North Yorkshire and I own a Black 928GT with 61000 miles with a full dealer/specialist service history. I believe it to be the penultimate GT to be imported into the UK in 1991. Due to the newer GTS model the car never sold until 1993 and hence is registerd on an L plate. I was looking on the site to try and glean some advice about how to tackle a problem with my drivers side window. I was about to take my car out for its usual monthly tour of the Yorkshire Dales but when I wound down the drivers side window it would not go back up? The only clue to what happened was that before I tried the window I tried the sunroof first and there was a few seconds delay before it opened; the same applied to the passenger window, although since then both have operated without missing a beat. I have checked the switches and changed them over and they appear ok. I have had it to a local electrical auto technician and he said it was the motor. How he came to this diagnosis is beyond me because he didn't remove the door cover to check the motor he only checked the switch. The fact the motor wound down and would not go back up is leading me to believe it is electrical. One other thing the relay unit under the passenger seat clicks when you depress the window switch. Does anyone have experience of what I've just described and if so what is the best route to take or action needed so I can get my GT back on the Road again. All advice would be appreciated. Many thanks Mazza |

Many thanks Mazza It could well be the motor as they normally fail with the window open. Gravity will aid the window to open but then the motor must fight gravity to get the glass back up. I would remove the door card and apply light upward pressure at the bottom edge of the glass whilst operating the switch and you might find it's just jammed. If that works make sure all the pivot points are well lubricated and run the window up and down a few times before putting the door card back on. Try reposting your query in the 928 section as there are lots of folk here far more technical than me that might help but could miss your query All the best Paul |

Hello and welcome to the forum..... " Black 928GT with 61000 miles" I don't like you already ![]() ![]() The relay unit under the passenger seat was the culprit on my S4 with similar problems........ sunshine roof would suddenly open five or six seconds after operating the switch...... same with passengers window. I had all the relays (6 I think) removed and replaced...(shop around as the whole replacement unit is well over £100) this cured the problem. Different cars different cures ...hope this helps. |

Hmm, Guisbrough seems to be a popular place for 928s, I think that there are at least 2 others over there! If the above suggestions don't help, give Tom Ferguson in Gateshead a call. He provides tech support to club members and I believe is also knowledgeable on the electrical system of the 928. |
