Thank you for your replies of welcome - much appreciated! There many Porsches down here in South Africa, with three pukka sale centres - Johannesburg, Durban & Cape Town, the latter about a mile from where I live. Most Porsches are as second use vehicles, in general. The classic front engined examples are very much more scarce - few 924 (a local pal of mine has a silver 924 Turbo...) & the 944s are mainly 2.5s & 2.7s - the S2 is rare (another local pal has a black/linen S2 cab), but the 968 a bit like hens' teeth! Fortunately the weather is kind to us for most of the year, & all 'our' cars are garaged. Parts for our servicing are expensive, as we have to go via Stutts for most things, but have made a few contacts in the UK who are very helpful.
Although the cam belt/water pump has been sorted some 'miles' back, a further check (service item) on associated belt bearings were replaced just this past month - foresight is the best! I am currently doing an overhaul of the ignition system - coil, leads, rotor, dizzy cap etc. Just waiting for the new rotor - the existing looks like the original...!
Will be happy to send pics - how do we that onto the forum page please...
Chat soon - DG
