Hi all I have just bought my first porsche, a 1984 944 earlier this week. It was a good price, body is super, it looks good and appears to go well. I love the psychedelic check seats! Changing cam belt/oil, filters, etc tomorrow. Only problem so far is leaking rear window seal, want to get this professionally sorted. I am in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, I know there is porsche specialist Paragon in Five Ashes are there any other local recommendations? I look forward to catching up with some of you in due course. Cheers Steve ![]() ![]() |

Steve, firstly Hi & welcome ![]() A 944 in the fastest colour well done ![]() Paragon are good but at the top of the pricing range. There are a few in your area with 944 experience. I'd suggest SUssex Performance or further out Cliff at Marden. But before you do this, the TIPEC South East club meet is this Wed eve. Go along there, introduce yourself & ask them who they are using. Contact details are here:- http://www.tipec.net/region_southeast.php I was goinging to come along this month but unfortunately I'll be in Limerick. |

Hello and welcome, car looks great, if the rear seal is leaking they are easy enough to replace, maybe worth trying before paying for someone to have a go |

The TIPEC SouthEast guys do meet this Wednesday, at the Bolney Stage just off the A23 near Haywards Heath. I've used Mid Sussex Porsche for servicing my 1982 944 and they offer a good price with some experience old staff. Courtesy car can be only £25 a day (last member had a 911 CS with less than 10K on the clock) Might see you on Wednesday ps not sure if Sussex Performance are still going? |

Hi everyone. Thanks for the invite this Wed but not sure if I will be able to make it. Will do so as soon as can. At this present time mixed emotions - attempting a cam belt and water pump change. Great relief at discovering the cam and balance belt were on the way out, really looked as if they were going to snap any time. Also the belt tensioner rattles like a castnet, again on borrowed time! Then frustration at discovering the water pump supplied was the wrong one ( would fit but it had 2 stud bosses on it ) also no gasket with it. Hey ho... Now, the rear window seal.. any special tips on fitting it? Assuming I get the right one!! ![]() Once again good to make your acquaintance. Steve 84 944 76 MGB roadster 81 Austin Mini |

I've never done my water pump on my early 944, but I think there is a difference in water pumps to the late cars. The early one is no longer available and you need to do a wee mod' to get the new one to fit? This implies that your water pump is the original. Might be better asking in the 944 section of the forum. Someone who knows will be able to answer. |

The water pump IS the correct one. They only supply this one now & there is a Porsche TSB detailing fitting it. You need a few extra bits from your supplier. Pop me a mail to tr7v8 at phaetonconsulting dot co dot uk & I'll fish the TSB out & send it to you. |

rugrat wrote: Now, the rear window seal.. any special tips on fitting it? Assuming I get the right one!! ![]() Hi and welcome, nice looking square dash ![]() I fitted a new boot seal a couple of weeks ago - dead easy! Just pull the old one off the lip on the body around the boot aperture, then push the new one on, easy as that! It should be over length, so you'll just need to cut the excess off. I bought mine from Porsche Shop as it was the cheapest non-OE one I could find and it's spot on ![]() Cheers Andy |

They used to be the fastest colour - but must now must errrrr differ to 2 previous posts as my latest 944 is a RED one and is definately faster than the previous 2 (TIC even discounting the fact that it's a Turbo ![]() Enjoy the Club Clive |
