Hi everyone,
I am the (very, very) proud owner of a 1988 944 Lux in Alpine white with Maroon cloth interior, registration E62 WAK.
I bought it last year having spent 12 months looking for what I wanted - a totally original, unmolested/unmodified car that had been well loved throughout its life. I traveled all over the place looking for the right car and eventually it turned up in Rugeley, less than 30 miles away!
The originality of the car includes the stereo, which accepts an ipod through the socket intended for a CD walkman back in the day, working clock and sunroof. My only niggle is that the replacement stainless steel exhaust has a round chrome tailpipe rather than the oval one. It has a couple of battlescars as befits its age in terms of stone chips etc but that is the character of a car like this - not concourse but original.
One challenge I have is finding a 80's/90's phone holder (the old Nokia type one) to fit the 3 holes left on the transmission/dash trim so I can hide the holes - anybody know where one is? It has the glass mount aerial on the rear hatch which, though I am not a great fan of it, does somehow seem to be appropriate to the era so is tolerable.
The car has spent its entire life in the East & West Midlands and, judging by a windscreen sticker, was owned by a TIPEC member in the past - who knows they may still be a member or someone will know them. It could be any one of Michael Farrell, David Crabtree, A N Other? - if anyone wants to be reunited with their old car please just PM me.
It has just sailed through its latest MOT and is now being serviced and having the belts changed by a local specialist engineer I know - if I have it back in time for this Sunday it will make its club debut at Hatton - otherwise it will be at an East Mids meeting.
Once she is back I will post some pictures on here.
Anyhow, I have waffled (bored you all) long enough so will sign off and look forward to meeting other members at meetings and events.
