Hi all ,
don't know whether to put this in intro's or here!!!!
As I've just taken ownership of a 1986 944 on a c plate thats been stood on a friends drive for the last 6 years.... Its back on the road after a bit of t l c .
So hello everyone and even though I'm new to Porsche ownership I like to have a pet project in the garage that I can fix up so I'm used to getting my hands dirty.
Amazingly it passed it's mot with only two advisors , and one of those was a chip in the screen.
One thing it had to have was new boots , the cars fitted with 15 " teledials so I'm wanting to fit a larger rim 16" with a lower profile tyres , the only problem is after speaking to one of the guys at Porsche a part I've been told that the only available option is a 16 teledial ( given the year of the cars, suspension design ) is there an other solution ? Or am I stuck with the 15 s .
I am interested in any options that don't break the bank as I can't afford to throw money at the wheels as I think there's a problem with maybe in the drivetrain , it makes a thunk when changing gear , I can ease it away significantly if i drive gently ( wheres the fun in that )
when shifting gear and being easy feeding in the clutch but it's much worse if I'm being a bit more aggressive . Any ideas ?
Thanks all
Jason

Hello and welcome, as for wheels you may have to go to 17" because of the offset, you may be lucky and find some Fondmetal or BBS wheels on ebay, gumtree or Pistonheads. The Thunk on changing gear could be the do nut in the centre of the clutch breaking up. Before anyone else asks, lets see some piccies

Thanks for that .
will post some pics as soon as i can clean and sort out some polish on the old girl, and i have time to get outside and take some :D .
i take it the fondmetal are an aftermarket option . 17 " sounds like an even better option, would that be a porsche factory wheel ?
what would i be looking for with those.....
cheers
jason

I like teledials :D ....I even like the full tyre look especially if the car is lowered.....

IMHO going from 15" to 17" is going to give you a harder ride and will have an adverse effect on peformance ...unsprung mass and all that :( 15 to 16 yes :D

My favourite wheels would be Fuch's (if they fit) but these will cost £££££ closely followed by telle's ....factor in the cost of new tyres, wheels and maybe geometrey/camber ajustments and it adds upto lots of ££££££

refurb the telle's :D
