Ive long dreamed of driving my own Porsche 944 turbo to Stuttgart - to the new museum and on the way home visit the Nurbergring.

I'm not sure where to even start planning this, so first thought i would ask if anyone has knowledge or experience of this?
Perhaps a company is already running this?

Any help is appreciated.

Been to the Ring a few times. Book a Ferry, stay at the lovely Gasthof Gilles in Mullenbach, get some recovery insurance and get on your way Rav! Best if a group of you go, always more fun with a few other bodies. the Ring is really not what it used to be. Before Mr Clarkson exposed the enjoyment of it, it was a lot quieter.Best time of the day to go is first thing in the morning or last thing at night. If going first thing in the morning, watch out for dampness under the trees at the back of the circuit. Ben Lovejoys site is quite good,

I don't want to rain on your parade, BUT:

One thing that newbie 'Ringers are often unaware of is that the vast majority of UK insurance companies either specifically exclude cover or will hide behind insisting that it's a racetrack (and therefore also no cover). Be in no doubt that should the worst happen unless you have 'ring specific 3rd party cover, you are uninsured. Even if the insurance company is forced to pay out at the time, they will sue you for the money afterwards. If it's just your car you wreck you might accept that risk, but what if you kill somebody or even just cause a big expensive accident due to dropping oil? Even just the Armco & closure bills can quickly mount up into the thousands.

That said, there's no place like it & if you avoid weekends it's a good bit quieter. Problem is that this year, like last year, there are almost no full weekdays over the summer, it's all 2 hour evening sessions. Wednesday 15th September is the only full TF day this year where the weather is reasonably certain to be OK. I'll be there for a full week around then

BTW, Ben Lovejoy's site is quite out of date since he stopped going a few years back. Have a look on http://www.northloop.co.uk or http://www.bridgetogantry.com
