Hi all. Have just test driven my first two 944's this weekend. A really ropey s2 and a better, but iffy, 1989 turbo. the latter was great fun, especially lighting up on a damp road during a full 2nd gear blast. I am based in SW London and hope to have a car this side of Xmas. Hopefully will be able to say hi in person soon, this looks like a good forum and has helped me with my research so far.

Hi & welcome
Would be worth coming along to a TIPEC meet. The Kent & SE LOndon group is this week in Hadlow near Tonbridge if you can make it.

Well, I got my car today.....finally. 1987 turbo in grey 115 miles. I broke almost all of the 944 buying rules and got one with no current history, and its barely moved in the past 3 years according to the mot history. it's in my local specialists now awaiting the good ( or bad) news when he gives it the once over tomorrow. but it is in pretty good condition and seems to have been loved - big reds, bilstein suspension, probably chipped ( specialist noticed an updated fuel pressure regulator). Basically 24 hours to see whether I have made a good or bad punt. Pic attached

Hi and welcome :hello2: good luck with the car. You know it's going to cost money, but it's worth every penny with the smiles per mile. :D

I do love that colour! Enjoy 8)

If you haven't already been using a similar list to help you choose cars, you might like to decode your options sticker - it's one of the first things I did when i got my '87 Turbo a few weeks back:
