Discount benefits are for members only and are one of the benefits of being a member.

For many people the savings achieved more than cover the cost of membership.

Good service from Porscheshop today, returned my call in good time with prices as promised.

Hopefully stuff will be delivered Friday as promised and I can get my hammers out to fix it up for the MOT on Monday.

Slightly disappointing on the discount level ranging between 0-5% depending on the products. Saved myself about £5 on a £220 bill which is still almost two pints I can have on them I suppose.

Hi All,
Not checked All Torque, so everyone might know this, but discount for Tipec members is now 5% according to Porscheshop.

Paul

Hi :)

Why doesnt the club have a word with them...dropping the discount is not on and tell them to take it back up or the club will stop recommending them.....

5% is a joke.....

All the best Brett :)

Update ... they didn't even give me the 5% they offered on the phone. Looks like Tipec members get nothing from Porscheshop anymore. Also - just noticed Berlyn are cheaper so will go there from now on.

Just picked up this thread. Interesting that you guys and Porsche Club GB are in the same boat as far as no discounts or low discounts are concerned from Porscheshop. It appears that it is not just you but also members of PCGB who are having similar issues over discounts.
Porscheshop, acording to PCGB offer 5% and 10% discounts but not to me they didn't using the excuse that a £55 item is an inexpensive item and there is an insufficient profit margin!
Whilst waiting for an official response from PCGB, I see Porscheshop appear to offer a 5% online discount to TIPEC members and according to your Dave Doherty he has not experienced a problem getting discount.
Is this site still working or has the discount been unofficially withdrawn?
It makes you wonder how any club, which sees a benefit to its members in negotiating and promoting these discounts, is able to continue supporting such scams!
I think now is the time for us to identify and share on this forum alternative sources of Porsche parts etc. suppliers. What do you think?

Hi all,

This is an interesting one!! I bought some bits from PorscheShop and asked asked about TIPEC membership discount and was informed that "it was no longer available". I have noticed that the prices on some of their goods is quite expensive in comparison to others. An example being a heater vacuum valve Porsche Guildford £48 +VAT PorscheShop £57.60 +VAT.

Can't fathom out why this item sells in US for $20 +shipping ($13.00) but, by the time HMRC have added their 'cut' (£78.20) it puts it to over £90 (I asked HMRC). This is nothing less than 'Legalised thievery with Royal approval'. Maybe I will look into the european aspect of after market spares?

When I used to live in France my 'OPC' there could not believe how low the prices from some of our aftermarket parts suppliers were compared to what he was paying in France, so much so that I put him in touch with some of our suppliers to source parts, although the French do not seem to be so sophisticated when it comes to looking for a deal. I cannot comment on the experience you had with your particular supplier, however I think it always pays to shop around, as we have as a club very good relationships with a number of very fair and reliable people.

Unless the situation has changed recently the person you asked at HMRC was pushing the wrong buttons on their calculator. Last time I purchased spares from the USA I was charged VAT (on the cost of parts plus shipping) and a collection fee by Parcelforce (I think they are the cheapest, other couriers charge more). I think Customs can also theoretically charge duty as well but no way would I expect this to be 200% plus.

Bought a seal off Porscheshop the other day and they gave me a 5% discount without any problem :D

Just tried to buy some tyres off Blackcircle and the code seems to have expired

With the help of Sean JMG are now able to validate who are members and who are not members without the club having to disclose details which may breach your privacy.

This means that if you see anything on the online shop http://www.jmgshop.com or need a new genuine, OEM or aftermarket part, genuine members will be given a 10% discount from our official prices.

Unfortunately, without the extensive use of a software engineer, the shop can not validate your membership, and we wanted to avoid a discount code being abused and circulated to non members. Therefore, if you want to purchase an item, you need to call us and order the parts the old fashioned way. You need to let us know you are a tipec member, and may be asked some security questions for your discount to be applied.

Also, for workshop customers who are tipec members, just let us know you are a tipec member when you book the car in, or when you drop it off, and we will apply a 10% discount to parts and fixed price items. Fixed price items are our menu prices for all servicing, brakes and a few other items. A complete list of fixed price items for your model of Porsche are available on request.

The only terms and conditions are that you are a tipec member, are able to provide your membership card or proof of identity when visiting us in person, or are able to validate your membership when ordering parts for mail order.

This offer can not be used in conjunction with any other offer we may advertise.

Of course tipec members will also recieve preferencial service for telephone or email support for all mail order items, which includes even sending you detailed instructions on how to install and setup the parts you buy.
