All

We operate this forum so that we can get the most out of Porsche ownership and help each other by sharing the vast amount of knowledge we have between us. We very much want it to remain open to all, benefiting the wider community not a closed area for members only.

99.99% of the threads are friendly and we have a good laugh. Events over the last few days have soured that, which is a shame. The forum has been running for two years this week. :bounce:

Over those years we have had to moderate very little and let far more go than most other forums and have areas that other clubs are too political to entertain. We allow this because we are grown ups and we very much want it to stay that way.

We will moderate as we see fit and quite frankly if you don't like it please go and post elsewhere.

If you post something which is controversial don't be surprised if you get a reply you don't like. Please don't make it personal and debate it privately, don't bore the rest of us with your squabble. Threats will not be tolerated and should be reported to the admin team.

Hi :)

Almost unbelievably, I tend to agree with all of the above....

One thing I might suggest though is that you NEED more Moderators from members...

You have 6 people with Moderation powers of which only 3 are active Moderators....

That is not enough to cover this Forum (or any other) for 24/7

As has been amply demonstrated lately....

Possibly other members of the Committee might want to or other senior members or RO`s, but you definitely NEED more, IMHO :)

All the best Brett :)

Brett, we certainly don't need 24 x 7 moderation even if we could or want to do it.
We do have more active moderators than 3 I might add.
Moderation generally is dealing with the tons of spam we get. Generally the members all act as adults & I can count on the fingers of one hand when I've needed to do anything. As I travel a fair bit I'm frequently on-line at different time zones to others anyway so can deal with some of the overnight crap that the spam generates.

I'm in total agreement with what Sean writes above & would add that if anyone feels that a message is offensive or they have been slighted or insulted on or off the board then they inform the moderators & don't get into a slanging match with the other party.

Hi Jim :)

The above paragraph is fine in theory but unworkable in practice :(

In real life someone sees something on a Forum (any Forum, not just here) they do not agree with strongly and immediately hit the "reply" button...

They want to feel they have made an immediate response and not a delayed one by informing the Moderation team.

The problem is that its human nature to do that even though the "sensible" option when calmer would be better.

I still think you need more Mods as the Forum membership WILL (hopefully) increase and with 1700 members and rising, 3 is NOT enough.....IMHO...

Sooner or later you WILL be hit by a major spam attack for instance, and I realise you have taken measures to stop that but any measures can be got around as you know....and IF you are...3 is NOT going to cut it....

Maybe it should be discussed at least at committee level, maybe it shouldn't....lol

I am not a member so possibly my advice on this should be ignored anyway :)

All the best Brett :)

Just for the record I endorse Seans comments but would advise against mass purchase of 996's. We need a multitude of differing posts and topics. Just 'its working' or 'its blown up' would be a little boring??

So now who wants to buy a 993......

Well, I’ve found a 996 I’d be happy to take on: This one.

Now, just the small matter of finance. Would anyone like to spot me a few pounds? All for the good of the TIPEC 996 forum getting a bit busier, of course.
