I think it is - the functionality has changed slightly though. This is to preserve the list of new posts should you temporarily lose your session (this used to annoy me on the old version - if you accidentally closed the browser window, you lost the list of unread posts). You can tell which topics in the list have posts that you haven't actually read by the colour of the icon to the left.
