So far we have sponsors for some fantastic auction prizes -

Anyone fancy themselves as an auctioneer?

Hi Nick :)

Are we having an Auction...AND... a Raffle ?

Or just one or the other ?

I am not sure , but would imagine that a raffle actually makes more money as most people buy raffle tickets (particularly as for charity) but with an auction, only some will bid....and to make the same money we would have to have not only some very high value items to auction, but also people prepared to bid high ?

Has anyone from other regions any experience of the financial difference (profit wise) of an auction vs a raffle ?

All the best Brett :)

Good thinking Brett to get input from others.

My thinking was that last year some high value items went to people without cars. These may have been better as auction items. Bottles of wine etc could still be raffle prizes.

What do others think?

Raffles never generate a decent total, if you have some decent prizes then auction is the way to go.

I'll tap a few contacts up and see what I can blag.

Hi Nick :)

I thought the raffle last year did well financially, particularly as Gordon got so many good prizes (of which I won a few...lol)

Do you know how much we actually made on it for the charity ?

All the best Brett :)

Hi Nick :)

Was that just the raffle though, or did it include Food profit ?

If it was all raffle profit, we will have a problem beating that figure by auctioning prizes I think.....

All the best Brett :)

We covered the cost of the food and a small profit was returned to club funds.

Hope that helps.

Reading the thank you note it says from 2007, so I guess that is the total for the last two fundays?

It's a great effort either way and I reckon any prize with a value of above £40 would be good to auction.
