Hi all,

not been on here for a while... hope all are well.
I need to get an MOT asap on my 997 911... where do you recommend in Berkshire?
Ideally Reading, but happy to travel...

I also need a service, should I go to Porsche Reading? The car is 2005, and has had full service so far. £25k miles

Cheers!
Sid

Thanks guys, that's the one I was thinking of... (I think lol)
Will call Ray tomorrow, I doubt he can give me an MOT straightaway...

I think that if you want it done very quickly you might try Ninex in Maidenhead.

Thanks. I have left Ninex a voice message...

Phoned Northway, and they don't undertake MOT's. They are performed by a local garage, who do MOT's all the time for Porches (and others) ... currently booked it in for Tue morning, 8:20am

Sun Garage, A4, Woolhampton RG7 5RH

Porsche Reading prices:
- major service (8 years) £640
- air filter change
- spark plugs change
- drive belt change
- brake fluid change
- checks of air bags
Total £1152 inc vat, labour and parts

Northway should be half the price? (£570 inc vat if I can add up?!)

p.s. fantastic service from Sun Garage for the MOT, as recommended by Northway!

Went to Reading OPC on weekend to buy the Porsche Junior Plus seat with Isofix (aka Britax Kid Fix!) and whilst there asked about servicing again.

OPC now have a special 10% discount for cars older than 7 years, plus a free mot; every year.
The service price is the same but parts are cheaper; which came to £1350 inc vat (ish!) so a lot more than last years quote.

So servicing aside, which I want to get done but from Northway, and bearing in mind OPC give the car to Sun Garage locally, should I still get the free mot on offer, or just pay the £45 to Sun direct?
I'm just nervous that OPC might fabricate or likely exaggerate work that needs doing.

What are your thoughts please?? Ta

If you're a TIPEC member then some OPC will discount the parts & labour. Not sure on Reading though. Ray is excellent one of the few southern indies I would rate.

What's the discount from OPC, 10% max I would presume?
Then I presume they will say 'can't be used in conjunction with any other offer' like the 7 star one for the older cars...?

Even with all that, I have decided to service from Northway anyway.
But should I take the free MOT from OPC, or will I end up paying for it anyway, in a roundabout way??

Passed my MOT today at OPC Reading with flying colours. Did it while I waited and threw in the 7+ health check foc which showed no issues. :D
