The first event for the year is a visit to Classic Preservation at Unit 1, Sandpits Industrial Estate, Houndsfield Lane, Wythall. B47 5QR.
This business specialises in classic restoration/preservation work with an emphasis on Mercedes and Porsche.
We will arrive from 9.45am for a 10.15 start. Our hosts have offered to lay on tea/coffee and bacon butties ahead of a tour of the workshop and question and answer session. Visit will end about 12.30pm
Please email me if you want to attend - 20 places max and first come basis - I emailed this out last night and half the places have already been taken

You can take a look at their website below if you want a bit more info ahead of the visit

Really interesting visit this morning. Our hosts came good with the refreshments as promised and we spent a couple of hours chatting and getting a look around the various project cars in the workshop.

I'll write this one up for the next issue of All Torque

Paul

Another vote for the bacon sarnies!

It was a highly educational experience - but a vivid one rather than dryly academic. Classic Preservation obviously really know their stuff and came over as no-bs experts. Very interesting not only seeing specific weak points on models highlighted (I have finally felt a kidney bowl!), but also listening to Paul talk about general issues/problems involved in restoration.

Thanks Paul B for arranging and to Paul and his team at CP for being so welcoming and so open about their business.

i'll second the bacon sarnies and never ending tea/coffee, what an eye-opener seeing that 911 on the spit in the spray booth showing clearly the kidney bowls after replacement, and the black cabby with the much groped rotten kidney bowls, and conservately described "other issues" including non closing passenger door. the project 912 with 930 engine is something which i would like to see when finished, thanks to classic preservation and paul for organising this interesting morning
