Hi All

These are the notes from the last SYNN regional meeting:-

Location: ‘Ye Old Bell’ Barnby Moor. Date: 04 November 2007

In attendance:

Phil Barton (Red 924), Chris and Kathy Belfield (Silver Boxster S), Eric and Karen Finley (White 924), Alan and Susan Fuller (Red 944 Cabriolet), Dean and Joanne Lancashire (Black Boxster), John Middleton (Silver 993), Ray and Kathy Waite (Silver 993), Jeff and Edith Adams (Silver 968), Paul Drury and Judy (Grey 968 Cabriolet), Graham Britt (Black 993), Pete Farmer (Blue 996), Craig Hattersley (Amerthyst 964), John and Jen Murray (Red 944), Dennis and Mavis Smith (Red 356B), Dave Charlton (Black 911 Targa). Total 24.

Since the last meeting:

 October 27th (Saturday) Visit to Coventry Museum of Transport took place with 12 cars from SYND, EMR and Central in attendance. The cars were lined up in front of the Museum which made for a great display and attracted a lot of interest from passers by. There is plenty to see in the Museum ranging from pre-war cars right through to modern day vehicles. The highlight of the visit was probably seeing the current world speed record holder Thrust SS2 and being able to get a feel of what a world record speed attempt is like via the simulator. This is a truly awaresome machine that took a very brave person to drive it through the sound barrier. After two hours in the Museum we made our way for some lunch which was followed by visits to Autobahn and Shirleys of Meridon. We were made very welcome at both venues which made for a nice closure to the day. Sad part of the day – seeing a 600 bhp 996 Gembella Turbo being dried out after suffering total submersion in the summer floods (not sure yet whether or not it will have to be written off!).

Forthcoming events:

 November 11th Classic Car Show at the NEC – special deal for tickets in the All Torque Magazine – anyone interested in going meet up at the TIPEC stand during the day.

 8th December SYND Christmas Party at Ye Old Bell. To date 28 people are to attend and 10 rooms have been booked. Full payment required by the 1st December although the lady on Reception agreed that anyone who has not paid by then can pay at our next meeting on the 2nd December. Everyone in attendance who is going to the party paid following the meeting. This leaves three couples to pay – Chris B to drop an e-mail to them to remind them to bring some money to the next meeting or make some alternative arrangement to pay monies owed.

Any Other Business:

 A provisional programme was put together for 2008 and this will be published with the notes for the meeting. At this stage there is not much finalised with regard to dates but these will be added when more details are known.
 Following a vote it was agreed by majority that the WOTY next year will be in the Cotswolds. A subcommittee was set up (JM, CB, JA, PJ and partners) although any other members are welcome and indeed will be encouraged to get involved and come up with any ideas re what we can do, where we can go etc.
 John M reported that recent boundary changes put in place to accommodate the East Midlands Region have now been put in place. He proposed that a more appropriate name for this Region would be South Yorkshire and North Notts – this was agreed by members present and we shall forthwith be known as the SYNNers!
 The Treasurer reported that our funds remain healthy.
 Eric Finley reported that the improved TIPEC web site will be up and running later in the week.

Date of next meeting: 2nd December: Ye Old Bell. 5.00 – 5.30 if eating, 7.00 pm for meeting.
