Due to email confusion, Chris Belfied’s report for the East Midlands region for the April issue of All Torque didn’t get to me in time for printing the magazine. Here it is in full:

Club Night Notes for 18 March 2008

Another excellent turnout on a cold but dry evening. Members enjoyed a relaxed and informal evening discussing future events and everyone contributed to a topics session ‘What are you going to do to your Porsche over the Easter Holiday’.

The Meguiars visit which took place the previous Saturday was a great success enjoyed by everyone (even the wives). The day started with a most interesting talk outlining the process to follow to achieve the best finish on your car which stressed that preparation is the key to a good finish. This was followed with a demonstration of the process with Graham Waller’s Boxster being chosen as the vehicle to work on. Those of you who know Grahams car will be aware that it already had a good finish on it but after 45 minutes working on the bonnet it was amazing the extra depth of colour and sheen that was quite apparent. Before departing we all received samples of a selection of Meguiars products and additional purchases were made of polishes and waxes and cleaning products. The day concluded with a stop off at a local country pub for a drink and some lunch and a chat about our favourite subject – Porsches.

Many thanks to the Meguiars people for making us feel so welcome and making for a great day out.

Dates for your diary

April 8th Ashby Folville. As previously reported just turn up on the evening – no need to advise you will be attending – suggest we meet on the hour outside the pub (i.e. 7.00/8.00 pm).

April 13th TIPEC AGM. At Gaydon - everyone welcome – advise Sean Smallman if you wish to attend. Graham Waller and I are to attend – if you want to join us let me know and we will convoy in.

April 15th Club Night. See important note below re change of venue.

Sunday May 18th Alan Fullers drive around the Rutland Water – more details to follow.

Silverstone Classic Sunday 27th July. This event was attended last year by a number of TIPEC members from all regions and was a great day out. TIPEC have arranged for a special deal of two tickets for the price of one but the booking must be made before the 31st March. If you intend to come along ring 0871 703 3848 and quote booking reference SCIPC. Cost is £20 (instead of £40) plus £1 booking fee. For this we get allocated TIPEC parking on the infield adjacent to an excellent race viewing area and access to all the facilities and car displays on the infield.

Important Message.

Due to very recent TIPEC boundary changes we needed to find a new meeting venue. The East Midland Region has acquired six new members who were previously members of the now defunct Cambridge/Lincs Region. Our Chairman Sean requested that we move our meeting venue slightly further South to be more central for all members within our new catchment area. This needed to be done without too much detriment to our members in the Northern part of the Region.

Our new venue is The Field Head Hotel, Markfield Lane, Markfield, Leics. LE67 9PS. Meet at 7.00 pm if eating / 7.30 if just coming for a chat and a beer.

Look forward to seeing you all at one of our forthcoming events and/or at the next club night.

Regards, Chris Belfield EMR RO
