TIPEC SCOTLAND MINUTES
RO Stewart Gordon welcomed all present for coming out despite the inclement weather – a fair show of 8 Porsches and 16 members/friends attending tonight.
Apologies were received from Brian Wood, Alan Neilson (ARO), Neil Fraser (ARO) and John Torrance.
Stewart added his own apology for the cancellation of the regional BBQ planned for then 23rd, then 30th August, due to inclement weather but confirmed that, should there be a good weather slot, a BBQ in 2009 is still not out of the question.
First event on the agenda was the imminent WE to Yorkshire arranged for 4, 5 & 6 September staying at the Beansheaf Hotel Pickering. Arrangements for the WE have already been circulated to those attending but Stewart confirmed the first meeting points as Halfords, Straiton in the East and Strathclyde Park for those coming from the West. Scotch Corner Services will be the group meeting point at approx 12.30 followed by a coffee stop in Thirsk town centre before the planned visit to Specialist Cars of Malton at around 14.30. Martin, James and Ian confirmed that they will make their own travel arrangements and meet up with the group later.
Panamera Launch at OPC Glasgow 10 September. Those submitting their Porsches for the static display at Porsche Glasgow should arrange to be there between 13.00 and 14.00. Kevin Tocher confirmed that he would arrive about 15.00 due to work commitments. Peter Weston asked if his 944 S2 Cabriolet would be eligible and Stewart Gordon is to contact the OPC for approval. Stewart confirmed that member’s cars will be given a valet, where necessary, prior to planned Panamera launch opening of 19.00 and 21.00 hrs.
Boness Hill Climb 13 September. A list of those attending the Sunday session for a static display was read out and the meeting place confirmed as the Brewer’s Fair, Polmont for departure at 08.30 sharp. Members wishing to add their names for the event were invited to contact Stewart or Alan.
Selkirk Classic Car Show 20 September. Again spaces are available for this show and members not already booked were invited to apply. The meeting point for those in the East was confirmed as Dreghorn Services 08.30 for 08.45 departure. Members from the West may elect to travel via Peebles and in this case they are asked to meet up with the main group prior to entering the Selkirk show ground.
Stewart reminded all that the Brian Miller Motors Trophies for Street Concourse 1st, 2nd and third are up for grabs at the Selkirk show. In addition there is to be a Grand Concour’s trophy for past winning Porsches – this being the Neil Fraser Trophy.
Stewart confirmed previous mention of a new trophy to be presented this year as the `Visitor’s Choice` award – this award being the Steph Stevenson Trophy, sponsored by Brian Miller Motors. Attending Porsches will be allocated a number and each visitor to the stand will be invited to vote on their choice of car.
A raffle in aid of club funds will be held again this year at Selkirk. Members are requested to bring along an appropriate, wrapped, item ( around £5 value) which will be raffled off during the day.
East Fortune `Magnificient Machines` 27 September. Stewart passed round an attendance sheet for this event. Again members wishing to attend, and not already listed, should contact Stewart asap.
Christmas Party Night 11/12 December TBC. Stewart told the meeting that he has contacted the Carera Oban Bay Hotel with a view to holding the Scottish Region Xmas Party on say, the 11/12 December this year. As is usual Stewart will send out a note to the membership once dates/ prices are known.
