Hi,

Yorkshire region has had a invite to attend the Bradford Classic Show this year. I am attending both dates and are looking for anyone to come and show there car with me on either date. The event is in the middle of Bradford and entry is free. Please email if you fancy coming along to the event ASAP.

Regards
John Oakes

The date for the 4th annual Bradford Classic – being billed as “one weekend, two great car shows” - has now been revealed and will be held over the weekend of 18 -19th July 2009.

Over 150 classic and performance cars will go on show to the general public in Centenary Square Bradford, including some very special cars provided by Jaguar Heritage and Aston Martin. TV presenter and personality Penny Mallory, the world’s first woman World Rally driver, will be on hand all weekend to judge the cars, provide commentary and mingle with the crowds.

Bob Parker, Bradford City Council Manager said: “This is our fourth annual Bradford Classic and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever before. We have lots of special surprises in store which we will announce as we get nearer the show”.

Saturday will see well over 80 classic cars on display in Centenary Square Bradford. Star of the show will be a Jaguar Group 44 XJR-5 Racing Car, kindly supplied by Jaguar Heritage, which competed in the 24 hour Le Mans race in 1984 and 1985, finishing for the first time since 1963, driven by Bob Tullius, Chip Robinson and Jean-Claude Ballot-Lena.

If you own a special classic car and would like to demonstrate it at the show, please contact Bob Parker (contact below) as there are still a few spaces available. TV presenter Penny Mallory will be on hand to judge “Best in Show” and hand out other fun prizes for the entrants.

There will also be a free vintage bus service ferrying the public from Centenary Square to see the stunning car collection on display at the Speedmaster showroom and conference facility. Paul Hanson, Chairman of Speedmaster said “The Bradford Classic is a great event for Bradford and Speedmaster are delighted to be involved once again. Vintage buses will bring visitors to Speedmaster where they can take a look around our stunning showroom of classic, race and collector cars, view the Gallery Wall of Great British Racing Drivers, compete on our Carrera racetrack or have a snack in the cafe”

Sunday will see a display of 60 performance and competition classic cars in Centenary Square and will also be “Jaguar day”. Visitors will also be able to inspect the very latest cars from Jaguar, kindly supplied by the Bradford Appleyard Jaguar dealership. The Bradford Classic invites entries of all Jaguars (in all conditions), for a special Jaguar Concours D’Elegance and parade. Bradford born Jaguar Heritage Executive Director and Founding Trustee Peter Mitchell OBE, will drive from Coventry in one of his own classic cars, a 1959 Jaguar XK150 to judge the Concours.

Peter Mitchell said “We hope that all local Jaguar owners will attend with their cars even if they are not in pristine condition. Judging will be based not only on the show condition vehicles, but also older Jaguar vehicles that are in regular use”.

As ever, the Bradford Classic weekend promises to be a great day out for all the family. There will be an auction sale on Sunday featuring in excess of 1,200 items of Jaguar related automobilia - including an unprecedented single owner collection of model Jaguar cars - featuring D-type, C-type and a plethora of road cars from a wide selection of manufacturers. A selection of the best automobilia will also be on display for the public at the Appleyard Jaguar dealership before the auction – further details will be released at a later date.

 Long ago when I made my living as an engineer. I developed Asthma. Never had it before. May have been exposure to oil or Carburundum dust. Don't know. Had to quit the job & start over. But once a year It comes back to get me. Triggered by a flu like bug this time. It just would have to be The weekend. Polishing is relaxing & theraputic :D No problem. Will be careful not to over do it though

Look forward to meeting you Steppa.

From being a nipper up to a couple of years ago I always used to get a chest infection every November, coughed like a seal for two weeks.

It's a bit like my hay fever, I used to get that really bad but have been ok for the last few years. That used to knacker me out, couldn't so anything.

Asthma is not funny. When I was younger I had cronic asthma so bad that it was considered moving me to a school for handicapped kids. At age 14 I was taken into hospital for two weeks observation and to try out some new drugs. The doctors started me on a series of injections everyday gradually weaning me off them over two years. After that I was never bothered again.

Sorry John had to pull out of this event. I am unemployed now and it would involve to much expense (hotels etc).
I am attending a local show instead.
