Visit to CRUACHAN (the hollow mountain)
Sunday 11th August

Cruachan Visitor Centre
Dalmally,
Argyll
PA33 1AN

Deep within Ben Cruachan is one of the country's most amazing engineering achievements.

The Guided Tour takes you on a short journey deep inside the mountain Ben Cruachan. The power station lies at the heart of the mountain one kilometer inside. Once inside the mountain you are taken up the visitor's walkway, past sub-tropical plants that grow well with the warm humid conditions inside the mountain, and then on to the visitor's viewing gallery. Once there, you can see the generating hall.

There is a charge for the tour:
Adults: £6.50
Senior citizens/Students: £5.50
Children: 6 - 16 yrs £2.50, under six years are free.
Location: Cruachan Visitor Centre is situated on the north bank of Loch Awe, 19 miles east of Oban on the A85. Approx 105 miles from Edinburgh and 80 miles from Glasgow.
Meeting place is Duck Bay Marina - G83 8QZ at 11.00am – for coffee, tea, snacks or light lunch. Leave Duck Bay for 12.30pm. Then it’s a 55 mile drive up to Cruachan.
You can make your mind up on the day and meet at Duck Bay. We’re booked on the 2.00pm tour in the mountain – plenty of room.
Directions from Duck Bay:
Head up the side of Loch Lomond on the A82.
At Crainlarich bear left staying on the A82.
A few miles further on bear left on to the A85 – stay on this road to Cruachan.
Cruachan is 22 miles once you’ve left Crainlarich.
Contact / email James McLauchlan (07974 104432) if you would like to go, just to get a rough idea of numbers.
